About Tabriz 

Tabriz is one of the big cities of Iran and center of East Azerbaijan province. This city is the biggest city in North West of Iran and Azerbaijan regions and is recognized as administrative, connective, trading, political, industrial, cultural and disciplinary pole of this region. Tabriz is considered as the second industrial city following Tehran due to putting many mother and big industrial plants in it and having more than 600 part making companies. This city is considered as one of the most important immigrant cities due to being industrial. Meanwhile, Tabriz is mentioned as “Second Iran University City”, “the city of the first”, “the city of underpasses and overpasses”, and “the safest city in Iran”.

Having done recent discoveries in Blue Mosque area, Tabriz dated back to 4500 years ago. In Fourth Century AH, Ruby Hammoi makes Tabriz as the most well-known city of Azerbaijan.

In fifth to third century BC, Tabriz was considered as one of the most populated cities of that period. The city had many gates and had more than 300 Caravanserais. Due to being in special geographical region, the city was undergone natural accidents like earthquake frequently and was attacked by northern and north eastern enemies as the biggest city near to Armenia and Eastern Rome. Tabriz is one the most important trading centers of that period and had much importance as connecting bridge between east and west. Its people worked in business and trading from long time ago this is remained till now.

Tabriz is the pole of Iran auto manufacturing and part making industry and is recognized as the biggest producer of diesel engine in Middle East upon annual production of 16000 devices. This city allocates the second tower making rank among the cities of Iran following Tehran. The Tabriz population in 2006 exceeds 1,378,935 which were increased to 1,700,000 in 2016. In 1500, this city was considered as the fourth biggest city of world having 250,000 populations.

Due to eradicating beggary from Tabriz, this city is known as “city without beggar”. World Health Organization has chosen Tabriz as the healthiest city of Iran for three consecutive years. This city is known as “Cradle of Iran Investment” due to absorbing large capitals of private sector, such that it had the first rank of capital absorption among the cities of Iran for 5 consecutive years.  Having exploited Nabiakram highway, passenger absorption of Tabriz was increased and this city is raised as the second passenger absorption city following Mashhad.

Tabriz name was registered as different names such as “Torez”, “Torezh”, “Tebriz”, “Tori” in historical books and documents. This city has been ruined and reconstructed for several times during history and its current building dates back to Parthian and Sassanid era. Tabriz was flourished during 400-year dominance of Ravvadi dynasty and dwelling of Azd Arab tribe and its peak of flourishing was in Ilkhan era and on that period, this city was capital of vast territory from Niler to Central Asia.

Tabriz had experienced diverse accidents such as being occupied by strangers and fatal earthquakes in past centuries. This city was political capital of Atabakan, Ilkhanah, Shepherd, Jalalah, Qaraqouyunlu, Aq Koyunlu governments and first capital of Safavid government.

 

Tabriz Weather:

Generally, East Azerbaijan province is recognized as mountainous region and about 40% of its area is covered by mountain and 28.2% is covered by hills and 31.8% is flat lands (plains). The well-known mountainous regions are Sabalan volcanic mass in earth and Sahand in west and south western and Karadag Mountain Range in north and Soleyman and Arbat Mountain Range in south and Bozghoush Mountains in south east and Ghooshadagh in north east.

East Azerbaijan weather is generally cold and arid and has different climates due to topographical diversity. This province was influences by northern and Siberia cold winds and wet wind of black sea and Mediterranean Sea and Atlas ocean. Meanwhile, local winds blow from long mountains and Urmia and Caspian Sea to plains and jungles under influence of natural conditions of the province. East Azerbaijan is a mountainous and cool region and is considered as part of semi-arid and mean of annual rainfall is 250 to 300 mm.

Tabriz has climatic and low humidity weather and its average rainfall is 285 mm in a year. This plain has long and cold winters and mild summers due to altitude from sea surface.

Due to weather conditions, the best time of travel to Tabriz is spring and summer.
